　この度、下記の通りハイデルベルク大学（ドイツ）と共同プロジェクトを実施することとなりました。 本プロジェクトは「写本研究とデジタル人文学」をテーマに 、南アジア・東南アジア貝葉写本の保存方法・ 研究方法を見直し、再構築することを目指します。 2021～2024年度の取り組みに引き続き、2025年度も継続して開催をしております。

Towards Imagining Universal Access to Textual Knowledge
SAMHiTA: Building an Open-access Digital Repository of South Asian Manuscripts

要旨

SAMHiTA: South Asian Manuscript Histories and Textual Archive is an initiative of the India International Centre (Delhi) to develop a comprehensive digital database of manuscripts of South Asian provenance, especially those held in
international collections such as libraries, archives, and private repositories.
Supported primarily by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, SAMHiTA was conceived at a 2021 expert meeting to make the subcontinent’s manuscript heritage accessible to scholars across borders, while fostering collaboration with institutions in Bhutan, Cambodia, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Drawing on experience from the National Mission for Manuscripts, which established resource networks for cataloguing and training in traditional scripts, SAMHiTA integrates and standardizes data from diverse and globally dispersed manuscript collections.
The project addresses the challenges posed by varied policies on digitisation and access across institutions, but remains committed to documentation, digitisation, online publication, and outreach through lectures and exhibitions.
The lecture will outline the evolution of SAMHiTA’s vision, highlighting its partnership with the PANDiT (Prosopographical Database of Indic Texts) database, the adoption of IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) for collaborative manuscript description, and the involvement of new funding partners strengthening research and publication in this domain.

プロジェクト概要

真宗総合研究所の仏教写本研究では、
 
  • 現在本学にて所蔵されている貴重な仏教写本を、デジタル化にて整理 ・保存し、データを研究資料として公開・提供すること
  • 写本研究に基づき、南アジア・東南アジアを中心にその文字、言語、文化、信仰などの国際的・学際的な研究を行うこと

を目的として研究活動を行っています。
 
南アジア・東南アジア貝葉写本は、保存環境、資金的問題、保存技術などの問題に起因する破損が増えており、各国で保存が急がれています。
一方でデジタル人文学の手法と技術は急速に発展しており、様々な保存・修復方法が確立されてきていますが、それらの技術を採用する際の望ましい在り方、問題点を慎重かつ徹底的に評価することが求められています。このような写本を取り巻く状況を改善すべく、ヨーロッパで古典インド学・仏教学・写本研究に取り組む大学として名高いハイデルベルク大学古典インド学科と、この度共同研究プロジェクトを実施することとなりました。
