Faculty of Sociology
Japan looks as if it is rich and prosperous but hiding behind its prosperity are numerous problems such as a falling birthrate, aging population, depopulation of rural areas, the growth in the gap between the rich and the poor, and the difficulties brought on by natural disasters. There are many people suffering from such problems. What does it mean for a country to be genuinely rich and prosperous? Could it be something you can find in a community where the people join hands to create a “society where everyone can live together”? By fostering the capacity to empathize with others, the students of this faculty develop the skill to discover solutions to problems by working together. The faculty aims to teach students how to create a society in which people can respect, support and coexist with each other.
